Rehoming Toys to Rural Papua New Guinea
Over the years, Brand Hero has developed a close relationship with the people of Papua New Guinea. Through our ongoing work within the region, we have strengthened our bond with the people and families of the region. We have learnt about their families, traditions and local customs.
The idea to organise a ‘toy drive’ for the sick children of PNG originated during a routine site visit Tabubil General Hospital for work purposes. We realised the plight of the sick children and the hospital and returned to Australia, determined to make a difference.
With strong connections in Australia to local schools, the Brand Hero team set about creating a strong network to enable ‘pre-loved’ toys to be delivered to the schools for donation to PNG.
Lifting Spirits & Providing Comfort
Toys provide numerous benefits to sick children, not least of which is the ability to lift their spirits. Not only do toys provide love and joy, but they can also become a powerful source of comfort. This can be crucial for children dealing with pain, psychosocial issues, or the difficulties of living in the hospital. From fostering connection to creating distraction, toys have the potential to greatly improve a sick child’s quality of life.
Reducing Landfill
Every year, a staggering 26.8 million toys end up in landfill, from Australian homes. Not only does Brand Hero’s Toys for Joy program have outstanding social benefits, but the environmental impact of this reduction helps contribute to the longevity of the planet.
Helping The Healing Process

The toys were given to sick children of different ages who were hospitalised and brought into the outpatient and hospital clinics. For every toy donated, Brand Hero will give your school $1 credit to spend with us on branded school items. Whatever you raise, this credit can be used for any printing, signage or promotional item for your school.

How we take your preloved toys and rehome them to needy families
Donate
Collection centres are set up at participating schools and at Brand Hero HQ. Items can be delivered to location during the specified drop off dates.
Sort & Pack
Each item is checked, collated and sorted. These are securing packaged into shipping boxes for transport to PNG.
Shipping
Packed items are sent via sea freight to Port Moresby, before continuing on their journey to rural PNG.
Distribute
The arriving boxes are safely warehoused and items are delivered to local hospitals and community centres for distribution to local children and families.

We accept toy donations for children 0 to 17 years of age, up to 30cm in size.
We can gladly accept:

Donated items to be in good, playable condition, all pieces complete.
Kindly, we cannot accept:
- Electrical/battery powered items
- Kids clothing
- Items over 30cm in size
- Food and drinks
- Liquids
- Realistic toy weapons
- Perishable items
- Sponsored items
